Xiaomi YU7 GT: A High-Performance SUV Is Coming

Xiaomi is stepping up its electric vehicle ambitions with the upcoming Xiaomi YU7 GT, a high-performance SUV expected to debut on September 25, 2025. According to Auto-homeCEO, Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi Auto, confirmed that the YU7 GT will be the flagship version of the YU7 lineup, following the same strategy as the SU7 Ultra sedan.

Spotted Testing at Nürburgring

The YU7 GT prototype was recently seen testing at the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany, covered in heavy camouflage. The red-gray wrap is reminiscent of the SU7 Ultra test cars. Notable changes include wider front fenders, a more muscular rear design, and a broader stance compared to the standard YU7 model.

Tri-Motor Powertrain With Over 1,000 HP

Reports indicate the YU7 GT will feature a tri-motor electric powertrain, similar to the SU7 Ultra, producing over 1,000 horsepower. While Xiaomi has yet to officially confirm the specs, this move signals the company’s determination to deliver a truly high-performance electric SUV.

Aggressive Design and Motorsport-Inspired Aerodynamics

Leaked renderings showcase a dramatic aerodynamic package, including a large front splitter, rear cooling vents, black wheel-arch trims, motorsport-style alloy wheels, a prominent diffuser, and a fixed rear spoiler. These elements point to Xiaomi’s focus on performance-oriented design inspired by motorsport engineering.

Xiaomi’s Upcoming EV Strategy

Xiaomi reportedly plans to launch three new vehicle models, including:

  • SU7 L, a long-wheelbase sedan version of the SU7

  • YU7 GT, the high-performance SUV

  • Kunlun, a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV)

Competition in the High-Performance EV SUV Market

The electric SUV segment is heating up, with Xiaomi taking on established players like Porsche, which is also testing its new electric SUV at Nürburgring. Enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for potential lap time comparisons between the Xiaomi YU7 GT and Porsche’s upcoming models.

September 25 Reveal – What to Expect

It remains to be seen whether Xiaomi will officially unveil the YU7 GT on September 25, but the brand’s push into high-performance electric vehicles is clear. More announcements about Xiaomi’s EV roadmap are expected in the near future.
