BYD has officially launched the 2026 Seal 05 DM-i in China, introducing upgraded powertrain technology that allows the car to travel up to 2,000 kilometers on a full tank and charge — all while retaining its original starting price of 79,800 yuan (around 365,000 THB).

The updated model continues to showcase BYD’s commitment to advancing its DM-i plug-in hybrid technology, focusing on higher efficiency, longer electric range, and better fuel economy.

Refined Exterior with BYD’s Ocean Aesthetics Design

The Seal 05 DM-i maintains BYD’s distinctive “Ocean Aesthetics” design language, offering a clean and aerodynamic silhouette. For 2026, the model drops the active front grille, giving the front fascia a smoother and more minimal appearance.

The dimensions remain unchanged, measuring 4,780 mm long, 1,837 mm wide, and 1,515 mm tall, with a 2,718 mm wheelbase and tight 5.5-meter turning radius — ideal for city driving while preserving a sporty, elegant profile.

Updated Cabin with Smarter Tech and Cleaner Layout

Inside, the Seal 05 DM-i receives several thoughtful updates to improve comfort and functionality. The cabin now features a three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, an 8.8-inch digital instrument display, and a 10.1-inch central touchscreen powered by BYD’s DiLink smart infotainment system.

A key change is the switch from the crystal gear selector to a steering-column-mounted electronic shifter, freeing up additional space in the center console.

Other features include:

  • Manually adjustable front seats
  • 6-speaker sound system
  • 6 airbags
  • 508-liter trunk capacity
  • Cruise Control
  • Remote vehicle management via smartphone

Fifth-Generation DM-i Hybrid System – More Power, Greater Range

At the heart of the Seal 05 DM-i 2026 lies the fifth-generation DM-i plug-in hybrid system, combining a 1.5-liter petrol engine (99 hp / 74 kW, 126 Nm) with a front-mounted electric motor (161 hp / 120 kW, 210 Nm).

The car can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds, offering a balance between performance and efficiency.

Its 15.87 kWh Blade Battery now provides an all-electric range of 128 km (CLTC standard) — more than double the previous version’s 55 km. When operating in hybrid mode, the total driving range extends to an impressive 2,000 km, with an average fuel consumption of only 3.08 L/100 km (NEDC).

Strong Sales Momentum Reflects Growing Demand

BYD’s Seal 05 DM-i continues to be a strong performer in the Chinese market. In August 2025, it recorded 13,495 units sold, bringing total sales in the first eight months of the year to 49,821 units — accounting for 2.49% of BYD’s total sales volume.

This consistent demand highlights the growing popularity of plug-in hybrid vehicles among buyers who seek extended range without sacrificing affordability.

Conclusion: Efficient, Practical, and Future-Ready

The BYD Seal 05 DM-i 2026 reinforces BYD’s leadership in the hybrid vehicle segment, blending cutting-edge technology with real-world practicality. Its long driving range, improved efficiency, and accessible pricing make it one of the most attractive PHEV options in its class.

With this launch, BYD once again demonstrates that innovation and affordability can go hand in hand — redefining what drivers can expect from next-generation hybrid vehicles.
