Subaru has expanded its compact SUV lineup with the introduction of the REX 4WD, a rugged yet city-friendly crossover built on the same platform as the Daihatsu Rocky and Toyota Raize. Designed to blend practicality with a sense of adventure, the new REX 4WD delivers enhanced traction and confidence across various driving conditions.

Sporty Compact Design with Subaru’s Signature Look

The Subaru REX maintains the brand’s bold design DNA, featuring a hexagonal front grille flanked by sleek LED headlights and a sporty front bumper with integrated LED fog lamps and DRLs.

The SUV’s boxy silhouette is accentuated by black-painted A and B pillars, giving it a tough, modern appearance. The LED taillight bar stretches across the rear, paired with a sculpted bumper and 17-inch alloy wheels that complete its confident stance.

The top variant also adds heated wipers and a windshield de-icer, designed for improved visibility in cold-weather conditions—an essential feature for Japanese drivers.

Comfortable and Functional Interior

Inside, the REX’s cabin combines a minimalist aesthetic with premium touches. It comes equipped with a 7-inch TFT multi-information display, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob.

The semi-leather seats offer heating for the front occupants, while the Auxiliary Heater system provides extra cabin warmth during winter drives. The interior’s dark-toned materials add a refined, cozy atmosphere.

A unique highlight is the Vehicle Power Supply system (V2L), allowing owners to power small electrical devices up to 1,500 watts directly from the car — perfect for outdoor activities or emergencies.

Turbo Power and Advanced All-Wheel Drive System

Under the hood, the Subaru REX 4WD features a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, producing 98 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted through a D-CVT automatic transmission with Dynamic Torque Control 4WD, which automatically distributes power between the front and rear wheels for optimal traction based on road conditions.

To enhance safety, Subaru has equipped the model with its Smart Assist ADAS suite, including features like collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking—ensuring peace of mind on every journey.

Pricing and Availability

The new Subaru REX 4WD is now available in Japan, priced between ¥2,187,900 and ¥2,511,300 (approximately THB 489,000 – 559,000).

Offering a blend of compact practicality, everyday comfort, and genuine Subaru-style capability, the REX 4WD is an appealing choice for urban drivers seeking an affordable SUV with real all-weather performance.
