Bangkok, Thailand – CHANGAN Automobile, a global leader in intelligent and low-carbon mobility, has announced an ambitious “In Thailand, For Thailand” strategy to accelerate the country’s electric vehicle (EV) industry. The automaker also introduced two new premium electric models — DEEPAL NEW S07 and DEEPAL HUNTER K50 REEV Max AWD — marking another step in its Southeast Asian expansion.
According to Mr. Shen Xinghua, Managing Director of CHANGAN Auto Southeast Asia and CHANGAN Auto Sales (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Thailand plays a crucial role in CHANGAN’s regional roadmap. The company is investing over 10 billion baht to build its first overseas EV manufacturing plant in Rayong province, which will serve as a regional production hub for ASEAN, Australia, and New Zealand.
The new plant is expected to generate over 20,000 jobs, with 90% of the workforce being Thai and local parts usage exceeding 60%, set to reach 80% by 2030. CHANGAN also plans to export more than 1,000 units of the DEEPAL S05 to Europe by the end of this year.
Five-Year Roadmap (Until 2030)
CHANGAN’s five-year plan focuses on building a strong EV ecosystem in Thailand, covering four key pillars:
- Product Innovation – Accelerating Thailand’s transition from ICE to NEV, aiming to become one of the Top 3 best-selling automakers in the country.
- Skill Development – Collaborating with AHRDA to upskill Thai technicians for EV maintenance and technology.
- Nationwide Network Expansion – Establishing 200 dealerships and service centers nationwide.
- After-Sales Excellence – Ensuring spare part delivery and service support within one hour.
Three New Premium Models to Boost EV Lineup
- DEEPAL NEW S07 – A premium electric crossover with an LFP battery capable of fast charging from 30–80% in just 15 minutes. Equipped with a European suspension system for enhanced driving precision. Starting at 1,099,000 THB.
- DEEPAL HUNTER K50 REEV Max AWD – An all-terrain SUV with front and rear differential locks and V2L DC 22 kW power output, designed for adventure enthusiasts. Priced at 1,249,000 THB.

Beyond Manufacturing: A Strategic Partner for Thailand’s EV Future
Mr. Shen emphasized that CHANGAN is not merely an EV manufacturer, but a strategic partner in advancing Thailand’s EV ecosystem. The company is committed to supporting EV 30@30 — a national policy promoting EV adoption — while fostering innovation, workforce development, and sustainable growth.
Currently, CHANGAN Automobile (Thailand) operates under China Changan Automobile Group, which holds assets exceeding 308 billion yuan and employs over 145,000 staff worldwide. The company targets 4 million global sales by 2030, with 60% from new energy vehicles and 30% from international markets.
