Nissan showcased the all-new Elgrand at the Japan Mobility Show (JMS) 2025, offering a first glimpse of the next-generation premium minivan. The new Elgrand is expected to launch officially in Japan in summer 2026, combining Nissan’s latest e-POWER third-generation hybrid system with advanced modular 5-in-1 electric drive technology.
This new powertrain delivers enhanced performance, quieter operation, and improved fuel efficiency. Additionally, the Elgrand will debut Nissan’s updated e-4ORCE electric all-wheel drive system, providing superior handling, stability, and reduced body sway during acceleration and deceleration.
For drivers, e-4ORCE ensures a dynamic, engaging driving experience, especially in corners, while the Intelligent Dynamic Suspension system minimizes body roll for smooth, comfortable rides. Passenger comfort is enhanced, with reduced motion sickness and a stable cabin environment even on long journeys.
The minivan also incorporates Nissan’s latest ProPILOT driver assistance technology, including hands-free operation at speeds below 50 km/h, ProPILOT 2.0 for highway driving, lane change assist, and advanced semi-autonomous features for more relaxed long-distance travel.
Exterior Design: Timeless Japanese Futurism
The exterior design follows Nissan’s philosophy of “Timeless Japanese Futurism”, blending traditional Japanese aesthetics with a futuristic vision. Inspired by craftsmanship and artistry, the Elgrand features:
- Striking front grille influenced by Japanese Kumiko patterns
- Sleek new color options such as Fuji Dawn, inspired by sunrise over Mt. Fuji, and Shigoku, a deep red-purple hue representing elegance
- A bold, luxurious presence with modern detailing and refined lines
Interior Design: Premium Lounge Experience
Inside, the Elgrand offers a premium lounge-like environment:
- Second-row captain seats with zero-gravity design for maximum comfort
- TailorFit™ synthetic material resembling high-quality Nappa leather
- Wood and leather accents, with Kumiko-inspired door panel patterns
- Dual 14.3-inch displays, a first in the segment, integrating driver information and infotainment
- Bose® premium audio system with 22 speakers and customizable ambient lighting (64 colors)
These features elevate both driver engagement and passenger comfort, setting a new benchmark in the premium minivan segment.
Continuing a Legacy
Since its debut in 1997, the Elgrand has pioneered the premium minivan category in Japan, renowned for spacious, luxurious interiors and impressive driving dynamics. The fourth-generation Elgrand builds on this legacy, combining Nissan’s latest electric drive technology with futuristic design, enhanced comfort, and innovative driving assistance systems.
The all-new Elgrand is set to launch in Japan in summer 2026, continuing its reputation as a benchmark in luxury minivans.
