Ford Thailand is making bold moves to transform the pickup truck market with the confirmation of the Ford Ranger Super Duty launch, a heavy-duty pickup truck engineered specifically for demanding business operations and adventure enthusiasts. This new model promises performance and capability that goes beyond conventional pickup trucks, delivering robust power and exceptional load-carrying capacity for demanding work applications.

Flexible Model Options

The Ford Ranger Super Duty offers adaptability to meet diverse customer needs:

  • Double Cab version designed for users who prioritize spacious seating while maintaining impressive cargo capacity
  • Single Cab Chassis version ideal for business owners requiring customization options tailored to specific operational requirements

World-Class Manufacturing Hub

The Ford Ranger Super Duty will be manufactured at the Auto Alliance Thailand (AAT) facility in Rayong, serving both the Thai market and global export destinations. This production strategy underscores the strength of Thailand's automotive industry in producing world-class vehicles. The AAT facility has an impressive track record, being the sole global production facility for the Ford Everest, demonstrating Thailand's capability in manufacturing premium Ford vehicles.

Signature Highlights: Superior Towing and Load-Carrying Capacity

The Ford Ranger Super Duty is engineered as a leading heavy-duty pickup with distinctive capabilities:

Exceptional Towing and Load-Carrying Power This truck supports a maximum towing capacity of 4,500 kilograms, combined with a maximum Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of 4,500 kilograms and a maximum Gross Combined Mass (GCM) of 8,000 kilograms. This significantly exceeds the capabilities of conventional pickup trucks, making it the industry choice for serious work.

Heavy-Duty Frame Construction The fenders feature the thickest gauge metal Ford has ever developed for the Ranger, with the entire frame structure upgraded using thicker steel material and additional reinforcement points. The result is a frame weight increase of 70–80 kilograms compared to the standard Ranger frame, ensuring superior durability and load-bearing capacity.

Advanced Suspension System Spring attachment points and lower fender sections have been elevated to prevent impacts during off-road operations. The suspension system has been completely redesigned with an extended rear leaf spring specifically engineered to enhance load-carrying and towing capability while improving stability and safety during off-road driving.

Reinforced Drive Axles Both front and rear drive axles have been reinforced for superior strength, paired with the largest and most robust differential gear assembly ever fitted to a Ford Ranger.

Heavy-Duty Steel Bumper The steel bumper is mounted directly to the vehicle frame, providing superior strength and weight distribution. It accommodates accessory installations such as spotlights and antennas while offering enhanced front-end protection against impacts and off-road obstacles.

Integrated Underbody Protection Heavy-duty underbody skid plates protect the front differential, transmission, and drivetrain with 3.6mm thick steel materials. The fuel tank skid plate weighs 130 kilograms and is engineered as an integral part of the frame structure. The 130-liter fuel tank includes its own protective steel skid plate for maximum safeguarding.

Heavy-Duty Wheels and Tires Eight-lug alloy wheels measuring 18 x 8.5 inches paired with 33-inch All-Terrain LT275/70R18 tires. The eight-lug configuration combined with reinforced steel materials significantly enhances strength and weight distribution capacity while reducing the risk of wheel and hub damage.

Off-Road Capability and Adaptive Driving Modes

Seven Intelligent Drive Modes Ford Ranger Super Duty features seven selectable driving modes: Normal, Eco, Towing, Slippery, Mud, Sand, and Rock. Drivers can automatically adapt the vehicle's performance to suit current terrain conditions.

Advanced Off-Road Assistance Systems Trail Control manages speed automatically during off-road driving, while Trail Turn Assist improves cornering capability on challenging terrain. These systems make off-road driving safer and more manageable for all experience levels.

Intelligent Four-Wheel Drive System The 4A automatic four-wheel drive system with selectable 4H and 4L modes, combined with electronically controlled front and rear differentials, optimizes traction across all terrain types.

Water Fording Capability Maximum water fording depth of 850mm enables confident navigation through flooded areas and river crossings.

Ground Clearance and Wheelbase Ground clearance of 299mm and wheelbase of 1,710mm provide enhanced obstacle clearance for challenging terrain.

Engine and Powertrain Technology

High-Performance Diesel Engine The Ford Ranger Super Duty is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission specially tuned for heavy-duty applications.

Advanced Control Systems The Integrated Device Mounting System (IDMS) comes factory-installed for the first time on a Ford Ranger, complemented by electronically controlled front and rear differential locks.

Distinctive Interior Branding The cabin features "SUPER DUTY" badging on the instrument panel console, emphasizing the vehicle's premium heavy-duty status.

Opportunities for Thailand's Market

The introduction of the Ranger Super Duty represents a significant expansion of Ford's product portfolio in Thailand, offering consumers and business operators an enhanced selection with dedicated heavy-duty capabilities. The specialized design addresses the specific needs of users prioritizing reliability, work performance, and superior capability. Manufacturing in Thailand for global export further validates the strength and capability of Thailand's automotive industry on the world stage.
