CATL has officially unveiled its third-generation "Shenxing" LFP battery, a breakthrough set to revolutionise the electric vehicle industry.

Debuted at CATL Tech Day 2026 in China, this new battery can charge from 10% to 80% in a staggering 3 minutes and 44 seconds, and reach 98% in just 6 minutes and 27 seconds.

Charging Performance Milestones:

  • 10% to 35%: 1 minute
  • 10% to 80%: 3 minutes 44 seconds
  • 10% to 98%: 6 minutes 27 seconds
  • Charges to 98% in 9 minutes at $-30$°C

Key Technological Upgrades:

The Gen 3 Shenxing battery boasts the world’s lowest internal resistance for ultra-fast charging at just  0.25 milliohms, 50% lower than the industry average. Laboratory tests also confirm a State of Health (SoH) maintained at over 90% after more than 1,000 rapid charge cycles.

Key Technological Upgrades: 

  • Enhanced Head-cell Cooling: Increases thermal dissipation efficiency by 20%.
  • Multi-point Precision Sensing: Real-time temperature control for each individual cell.
  • Integrated Self-heating: Solves the challenge of slow charging in freezing climates.

According to the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance (CABIA), CATL remains the undisputed leader with a 48.3% market share, followed by BYD (17%) and CALB (5.9%). Data from the CPCA further indicates that CATL’s market dominance surpassed the 50% mark in the first quarter of 2026, cementing its position as the primary energy provider for the global EV transition.
