BYD Sealion 8 launched! Flagship SUV with 900 km range and 643 HP coming to the global market

The BYD Sealion 8 has made its debut at the Beijing Auto Show 2026. Positioning itself as a flagship full-size SUV, it boasts a formidable 643bhp output and 900km of range.

Built on the advanced e-Platform 3.0 Evo and an 800V architecture, this model is set to launch in China later this year before spearheading BYD’s global premium expansion.

Performance

Engineered on the e-Platform 3.0 Evo, BYD’s most sophisticated EV architecture to date,  the Sealion 8 features a dual-motor AWD system. With a combined output of 643bhp, this luxury SUV can sprint from 0-100 km/h in a staggering 3.4 seconds. 

This level of performance places it firmly in the territory of elite performance SUVs and supercars alike.

New Tech & Range

The top-tier variant is equipped with the Blade Battery 2.0 and utilises CTB (Cell-to-Body) technology, which integrates the battery into the car's structure for enhanced rigidity and energy density. 

The result is a maximum range of 900 km (CLTC) combined with 800V architecture, Flash Charging technology (10-97% in 9 minutes), the Sealion 8 makes long-distance cross-country travel effortless.

On the intelligence front, it is among the first to feature DiPilot 300. This high-level autonomous driving suite works in tandem with LiDAR sensors and high-performance computing chips, providing seamless hands-on-wheel assistance in both dense urban traffic and high-speed motorway environments.

The Ocean Aesthetics Design

The exterior evolves BYD's "Ocean Aesthetics" language into a more aggressive and aerodynamic form:

• Dimensions: 5,115mm length, 1,999mm width, and a 3,030mm wheelbase, offering a cavernous interior with a sporty, sloping roofline.
• Premium Cabin: Reimagined as a luxury "Digital Lounge," the interior features premium recycled materials, a signature rotating touchscreen, and the DiLink 6.0 OS with advanced AI voice control.

The BYD Sealion 8 is a direct challenge to the Tesla Model X, Xpeng G9, and European luxury mainstays. By delivering a "faster, longer-range, and smarter" package at a competitive price, BYD is ready to dominate the high-end EV segment. For the Thai market, expect to see the Sealion 08 arrive by late 2026 or early 2027 as a formidable new contender.
