The return of the legend – Meet the new Freelander 8 specs & features from Chery & JLR

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and Chery have unveiled the production version of the Freelander 8, reviving the legend in the form of a cutting-edge electric SUV.
The Freelander 8 returns, utilizing the latest iMAX platform that supports Battery Electric (BEV), EREV, and PHEV systems. It is set to target the global market as a full-size SUV that takes spaciousness a step further than the Land Rover Defender 110.
The Return of a Legend in a New Form
The Freelander 8 is positioned as a full-size SUV, featuring a 553 hp (412 kW) motor. It emphasizes dimensions that surpass the current Land Rover Defender 110, with a vehicle length exceeding 5.1 meters and a 3,000 mm wheelbase. This model is positioned as a new alternative that meets the demands for luxury and utility, built on the highly flexible iMAX platform (Chery E0X), which supports a wide range of powertrain configurations.
Futuristic Design with 800V Technology
The exterior of the Freelander 8 is modeled after the Concept 97 prototype, featuring a signature futuristic dual-square headlight design and the omission of a traditional grille to emphasize a sleek, minimalist aesthetic. A LiDAR system is integrated above the windshield to support advanced autonomous driving capabilities.
In terms of engineering, all variants will be equipped with an 800V electrical architecture. This enables the battery-electric (BEV) models to support DC Fast Charging at speeds up to 350 kW, placing its charging performance at the forefront of the industry.

- Zero-gravity Seats: Elevated front-row seats for a commanding view, along with second-row "zero-gravity" reclining seats to provide maximum comfort during long-distance travel.
- Exceptional Spaciousness: With a long wheelbase and wide body, the cabin offers a premium experience for all passengers, likely in a 6-seat configuration.
