The All-New Honda City 2026 Big Minor Change, Facelift, Pushing the e:HEV hybrid

The 2026 Honda City positions its e:HEV powertrain as the core, complemented by a refreshed design and next-generation tech options.

Honda (Thailand) Co., Ltd. has created a massive shockwave in the sub-compact market by launching the latest Honda City 2026 Big Minor Change, available in both Sedan and 5-door Hatchback body styles. The vehicle arrives with a sharper, sportier exterior look and an upgraded large 10-inch digital central touchscreen.

Key Highlights:

  • e:HEV as the Core: The highly popular V, SV, and RS grades will now be available exclusively with the e:HEV hybrid powertrain.
  • Reduced Role for the Turbo: The 1.0-litre VTEC Turbo petrol engine will be restricted to the base model (S Grade) only.
  • New Design: A slimmer honeycomb front grille design, paired with dark grey background clear-lens taillights.
  • Tech and Option Upgrades: Upgraded to a larger 10-inch central screen, accompanied by a 360-degree camera system and a wireless charger.
  • Timeline: Official bookings open on July 1, with the first batch of deliveries scheduled to begin by August 31, 2026.

This facelift represents a major strategic turning point for the brand, as Honda has decided to reduce the proportion of pure internal combustion engines and push the e:HEV hybrid system to become the primary choice across its most popular variants: V, SV, and RS. Official bookings will formally open from July 1, 2026, onwards.

What's New in the Big Minor Change?

Exterior Design: A Refreshed Front Face –  Both the Sedan and Hatchback body styles receive a sharper front makeover, featuring sleek LED headlights that blend with a more slender honeycomb grille design. For the standard grades, the front bumper and air intakes have been redesigned.

Meanwhile, the RS grade receives a variant-exclusive front grille adorned with a red RS logo, a sporty lower bumper treatment, and a larger rear diffuser. It also gains newly designed alloy wheels and two new exterior paint options: Ignition Red Metallic and Urban Grey Pearl. On the other hand, the special-edition "Drival Edition" package found in the previous model has been discontinued in this updated version.

Interior Cabin and New Technologies –  The interior cabin has undergone an extensive overhaul to deliver a more premium driving experience:

  • 10-inch Central Screen: For the entry-level grade, the screen size will be proportionally stepped down and integrated cleanly into the centre console.
  • Ambient Lighting: Added to inject vibrant colors during night-time driving.
  • 360-Degree Multi-View Camera: Assists in significantly enhancing safety during parking maneuvers.
  • Additional Amenities: A wireless smartphone charger and an auto-dimming rearview mirror are now equipped as standard.
  • Sedan Exclusive: Specifically for the 4-door Sedan body style, a new Platinum Gray interior color theme is available as an option (when paired with either the Meteoroid Gray Metallic or Crystal Black Pearl exterior paints).

Powertrain: Restructuring the Drivetrains

Although the mechanical output of both the internal combustion engines, electric motors, and drivetrain components remains unchanged, this Big Minor Change clearly reflects Honda's direction toward transitioning into a clean energy era:

  • 1.0-Litre VTEC Turbo Variant: Will only be available in the entry-level S Grade.
  • Hybrid Variant (e:HEV): Upgraded to become the primary powertrain for the V, SV, and RS grades. Driven by a Full Hybrid system using a 1.5-litre petrol engine working in harmony with dual electric motors and an E-CVT transmission, yielding a total combined system output of 126 horsepower, delivering exceptional fuel economy and responsive acceleration.
