First look at Xpeng Mona L03 – New crossover SUV with 2 power choices

Xpeng Mona L03, the latest crossover SUV, shows its face before launching in China. It comes with both a EREV and a pure EV version that can drive up to 650 km.

Key Highlights:

  • The Latest SUV: This is the second model in the budget-friendly "Xpeng Mona" family, following the M03 sedan which sold incredibly well in China.
  • 2 Power Choices: Available as a 100% electric car that drives up to 650 km, or with an extended-range system (EREV) that can run on pure electricity for 257 km.
  • Sporty Design: Features unique T-shaped headlights, a low-sloping bonnet, semi-hidden door handles, and a single-line LED taillight.
  • Compact Body Size: The car is 4,650 mm long and has a wide wheelbase of 2,850 mm.
  • Chance for Thailand: Since the Mona family is confirmed as a global model, the L03 has a good chance of being sold in overseas markets, including Thailand.

Xpeng China has released the first official photos of the Xpeng Mona L03, a fastback crossover SUV, ahead of its official launch in July 2026. Xpeng hopes this car will continue the success of its older brother, the Mona M03, which sold as many as 272,077 units in China from its launch up to this past May. The new model will focus on an easy-to-afford price tag.

Sporty Fastback Design

The Xpeng Mona L03 takes its design from the M03 sedan, using the same T-shaped headlights and low-sloping bonnet line. However, the details have been updated to suit a practical SUV style:

  • Active Air Intake Grille: Opens and closes automatically to help cool the engine and reduce wind resistance.
  • Semi-hidden Door Handles: Gives a clean, smooth look while remaining durable for everyday use.
  • Long LED Taillight Strip: Gives the rear of the car a premium and wide appearance (unlike the M03, which uses separate left and right lights).
  • Brake Calipers: Adds a sporty feel, matching with special 18-inch or 20-inch alloy wheels depending on the model grade.

2 Powertrain Options

This new L03 SUV was developed to fix common problems with driving range and waiting for the car to charge during long trips. Because of this, Xpeng has added an EREV (Extended Range EV) choice to sell alongside the pure electric version for the first time:

  • Pure EV Version: Driven by a single electric motor making 183 kW (245 hp). It pairs with two battery sizes: 56 kWh and 69 kWh, giving a driving range of 505 to 650 km (CLTC).
  • Extended Range Version (EREV): Uses the exact same 183 kW electric motor, but adds a 1.5-litre petrol engine making 70 kW (94 hp). This petrol engine works purely as a generator to put electricity back into the battery. In pure electric mode, it can drive up to 257 km before needing the engine.

Pricing & Availability

At this moment, Xpeng China has not yet revealed the official prices for the Xpeng Mona L03. The car will have its full launch with complete product details in July 2026, and will go on sale before the end of this year. Experts predict the price will be just a little higher than the M03 sedan (which costs around 590,000 to 750,000 THB) to match its larger SUV body size.

For the Thai market—Xpeng wants the cars in the Mona family to act as global models, meaning right-hand-drive versions will be made for export. Therefore, there is a high chance that Xpeng Thailand might consider importing this L03 fastback SUV to give Thai drivers another exciting choice in the future.
