mReview: LEPAS L6 – The High-Riding Electric C-SUV Packed with 2026 Upgrades Under 800,000 THB

LEPAS L6 Review: An accessible, luxury-aspiring electric C-SUV returns for 2026 with 100% local Thai assembly.
What’s Great?
- Locally assembled in Thailand, revised with equipment tailored to Thai drivers' feedback.
- Noticeably more energy-efficient than expected, outperforming several rivals in its class.
- Equipped with Automated Parking Assist and 50-metre Tracing Reverse memory assist.
What’s Good?
- Genuine blind-spot camera system that proves immensely useful in the wet.
- Supple, cushioned suspension tuning that shines especially when carrying passengers.
- Retains an ergonomic, easy-to-use control layout despite upscale ambitions.
What’s Not Great?
- Cabin plastics and general trim materials feel somewhat below true premium standards.
- Infotainment functionality feels slightly basic, awaiting future OTA software updates.
The LEPAS L6 delivers plush smoothness with every tip into the accelerator. Even in Sport mode with sharper throttle response, power delivery remains gentle rather than violent—making this gentle giant ideal for families.
Dynamically, Chery's chassis calibration feels closely related to its stablemates: similar compliance, light steering, and forgiving responses. The upside is immediate familiarity with zero learning curve; the slight downside is a lack of distinct driving personality to set it apart from sibling brands—even if the standard suspension performs its duties admirably.
Where the LEPAS L6 genuinely pulls ahead of rival crossovers is driving range, offering a superior 540 km (NEDC) on a single charge across all model variants.
The front end stands out with 'leopard-eye' headlights inspired by the brand name LEPAS (derived from Leopard). Sleek L-shaped horizontal DRLs house hidden projector LED lighting units above—subtle at first glance, but growing increasingly handsome over time.
A closed-off electric grille features lower active cooling shutters below the number plate, giving it an aggressive stance while housing an impressive sensor array: 1 LiDAR unit, 11 cameras, 3 radar sensors, and 12 ultrasonic sensors for top-tier safety surveillance.
Credit for the L6's serene road manners goes to its front-mounted single electric motor producing 218 hp (160 kW) and 275 Nm of torque, packaged beneath a handy 38-litre front storage trunk (frunk).
While capable of 0–100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 160 km/h, progress remains remarkably progressive unless you deliberately mash the throttle. Real-world energy consumption during Motorist testing proved stunningly low at just 10–11 kWh/100 km—well below the typical 13–15 kWh/100 km benchmark for this class!
Power is drawn from a 65.05 kWh LFP battery supporting up to 120 kW DC fast charging, replenishing 30% to 80% in roughly 20 minutes for a claimed 540 km range (NEDC). Given battery capacity remains the largest cost driver in modern EVs, LEPAS has focused its budget on lavish onboard tech instead.
True to C-SUV proportions, it measures 4,570 mm long, 1,852 mm wide, and 1,683 mm tall with an ample 2,700 mm wheelbase, prioritising generous vertical cabin height.
Rear accommodation deserves special praise: rear seat squabs are thick and supportive with plentiful legroom allowing passengers to cross their legs comfortably, complemented by an expansive opening Panoramic Sunroof.
Suspension employs MacPherson Struts at the front and an independent Multi-Link setup at the rear, soaking up potholes with the same plush composure found across Chery's wider vehicle family.
Unladen ground clearance sits at a reassuring 180 mm with a 500 mm water-wading depth (backed by IP68 dust-and-waterproofing for the battery pack and drive motor), providing welcome peace of mind during Thai monsoon downpours.
P.S. 19-inch alloy wheels on the Premium trim look fantastic, backed by 4-wheel disc brakes featuring sporty red brake calipers.
For 2026, the updated cabin introduces an all-black interior scheme requested by Thai buyers, replacing the easily soiled white upholstery of earlier imported batches.
Clever trim choices—such as continuous metallic-effect interior accent strips—lend an upscale ambience, while front occupants enjoy electric massage seats with heating and ventilation wrapped in model-specific quilted stitching.
Backlit steering wheel switches add visual flair, though their firm, tactile 'click' action falls slightly short of true soft-touch luxury.
Taking centre stage is a 13.2-inch UHD 2K touchscreen powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor, supported by an NVIDIA Drive Orin-Y chip and LiDAR sensor to operate active safety systems. The ADAS suite is comprehensive, offering ACC, TJA, AEB, ELK, BSD, RCTA, APA (Automated Parking Assist), and Tracing Reverse (50-metre reverse path memory).
Our main software gripe is the omission of built-in onboard satellite navigation, though an 8-speaker Sony audio system on top trims provides crisp playback for connected smartphones.
Rear styling channels European luxury SUV cues with clean curves and a full-width LED tail-light strip across the tailgate.
Practical exterior touches include conventional mechanical door handles (eschewing problematic flush pop-out units) and a standard rear window wiper designed for rainy tropical climates.
Standard boot capacity measures 323 litres, compromised slightly by generous rear legroom, but expands to 1,255 litres via 60:40 split-folding rear seats and an adjustable boot floor height.
Beneath the boot floor lies an enormous 99-litre hidden sub-trunk cavity—perfect for stashing damp sports gear, tools, or items that might generate unpleasant cabin odours.
All told, the LEPAS L6 mounts an aggressive comeback for 2026, offering practical upgrades and intelligent parking assistance at an accessible price point across two variants:
- LEPAS L6 Comfort: 769,900 THB
- LEPAS L6 Premium: 799,900 THB
Offering a fully fledged electric C-SUV under 800,000 THB sets an aggressive benchmark for the Thai market.
Author’s Note – While calling it a true 'luxury vehicle' might be a stretch given its value-focused pricing, the LEPAS L6 delivers immense day-to-day usability for family buyers. Time will tell if future LEPAS models can push perceived luxury even closer to their ambitious goals!
