GWM teases ORA 5 GT & Sport trims in China with bold aero upgrades

Great Wall Motor (GWM) under the ORA brand has officially released teaser images for two new sporty variants of the ORA 5 in China, the Sport and GT. The move aims to build upon the popular styling success previously seen on the ORA Good Cat GT.
The ORA 5 Sport Silhouette
ORA 5 Sport – Premium Sporty Elegance
The teaser reveals subtle yet refined exterior enhancements for the Sport trim:
- Exterior: Features a premium two-tone paint scheme paired with a distinctive white roof.
- Sporty Accents: Rides on larger alloy wheels housing eye-catching red brake calipers.
- Drive Assistance: Features a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor pod (expected to be exclusive to EV models) for high-level autonomous driving capabilities.

ORA 5 GT – Aggressive Aero Body Kit
The GT trim brings a much bolder, track-inspired aesthetic:
- Full Body Kit: Equipped with a sport front splitter, extended side skirts, and a prominent floating rear spoiler.
- Red Highlights: Vibrant red accent lines decorate the headlamp clusters, alloy wheels, brake calipers, and aerodynamic bits around the body.
- EV Charging Port: Teaser photos showcase a charging port on the front fender, confirming EV powertrain compatibility.
Note: GWM has not announced any mechanical or interior spec changes. The Sport and GT packages are expected to focus primarily on exterior styling enhancements over the standard platform.
Standard ORA 5 Powertrain Options
The ORA 5 is currently sold in China with three versatile powertrain setups:
- EV: Powered by a 150 kW (201 hp) front electric motor paired with SVOLT LFP batteries (45.3 kWh or 58.3 kWh), offering a CLTC driving range of 480 km and 580 km respectively.
- HEV: Combines a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine (115 kW / 154 hp) with a 140 kW (188 hp) front electric motor via a 2-speed DHT, producing a total output of 166 kW (223 hp). It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds, with a fuel consumption rating of 4.5 L/100km.
- ICE (China Only): Uses a 1.5-litre VGT petrol engine producing 135 kW (181 hp) paired with a 7-speed DCT, achieving 0-100 km/h in 8.9 seconds.
On the technology front, the ORA 5 is GWM's first vehicle equipped with the Coffee Pilot 3 OS, supporting Level 2 driver assistance and Navigation on Autopilot (NOA). It features automated multi-story parking navigation up to 3 kilometres and stands as the most affordable LiDAR-equipped vehicle in the Chinese market.
