The IM LS8 debuts as a full-size EREV with a 1,605 km range and advanced four-wheel steer-by-wire

IM Motors has officially launched its flagship EREV in China, the "IM LS8". Boasting a pure electric range of 430km and a staggering combined range of 1,605km.

This full-size SUV integrates 800V architecture with cutting-edge chassis technology. In the Thai market, it is highly anticipated to debut as the MG IM8, following the success of the IM5 and IM6.

Powertrain & High-Voltage Performance

The LS8 arrives in four variants with two primary LFP battery configurations:

• 52 Max+: Features a 52kWh battery, 355km EV range (CLTC), and a rear-wheel drive (RWD) motor delivering 308bhp. It clocks 0–100 km/h in 7.3 seconds.
• 66 Ultra: Equipped with a 66kWh battery and dual-motor AWD producing a combined 523bhp. It achieves a blistering 0–100 km/h in 4.7 seconds with a top speed of 220 km/h.

The "Stellar" Super Extended Range system utilises an 800V high-voltage platform paired with a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder “Zephyr” turbo generator. With a 60-litre fuel tank, the LS8 can travel over 1,605km before needing a refill or recharge.

Intelligent "Lingxi" Chassis 3.0

Despite its massive footprint (5,085mm length and 3,060mm wheelbase), the LS8 offers nimble handling thanks to its Digital Chassis 3.0:

• Four-wheel Steer-by-Wire: For the first time in this segment, the rear wheels can turn up to 24 degrees. This allows a 5-metre SUV to have a turning circle of just 4.85 metres, tighter than many compact hatchbacks.
• Brake-by-Wire & CDC:Electronic braking for millisecond response times and Continuous Damping Control (CDC) paired with air suspension.

Luxury Interior & Tech Stack

The cabin is dominated by a wrap-around 5K MiniLED display system, featuring a 27.1-inch central screen and a 15.6-inch passenger screen, all powered by the Qualcomm 8295P chip.

• A 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen (B&O) sound system is available as options.
• Comfort features including floor heating, privacy glass, a 12.3-litre hot/cold fridge, and "Zero-Gravity" seats with massage and ventilation.

Advanced Autonomous Driving (ADAS)

Co-developed with Momenta, the LS8’s ADAS is powered by the high-performance Nvidia Thor chipset. It utilises a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor (520 lines) with a 300-metre detection range, supporting full-stack autonomous driving in both urban and highway environments. 

With MG Thailand’s successful introduction of the IM brand, the LS8 (as the MG IM8) is likely to be poised as a major contender in the premium Full-size SUV segment, offering a perfect blend of high-end tech and long-distance practicality.
