The Geely Galaxy Cruiser 700, a boxy off-road SUV powered by a plug-in hybrid system

Initial images of the Geely Galaxy Cruiser 700 revealed – a rugged "boxy-style" PHEV off-roader as right-hand-drive export maps are confirmed.

Key Highlights:

  • 1,113 Hp: Uses a plug-in hybrid system with 3 electric motors to make a massive 1,113 hp (830 kW).
  • Light and agile: Weighs around 2,880 kg, which makes it 710 kg lighter than its main rival, the BYD YangWang U8.
  • New rear-axle lock: Uses a special oil-based lock system between the rear wheels to stop them from spinning uselessly in deep mud or off-road trails.
  • Smart driving system: Has a radar sensor (LiDAR) on the roof and uses a powerful Nvidia AGX Thor computer chip for self-driving features.
  • Great safety test scores: Passed the high-speed swerving test (Moose Test) at 80 km/h. It can also drive sideways like a crab and go through water up to 800 mm deep.

Geely Design China has officially shown the first pictures of the Geely Galaxy Cruiser 700 (also called Zhanjian 700). This is the first big, luxury off-road plug-in hybrid SUV in the 'Geely Galaxy' family. It is made to compete with luxury off-road cars from Europe. At the same time, Geely is growing fast, selling 71,553 electric and hybrid cars in China in May 2026 alone.

Retro-Modern Boxy Design

The car comes in a tough military green shades. It has a boxy shape with sharp lines. The front features a small air vent on the bonnet, square headlights, and a big front bumper with radar sensors. All the roof pillars are black to make the roof look like it is floating. The back has a spare tyre mounted on a tailgate that opens sideways.

  • Fixing the rear view: Because the big spare tyre blocks the view out of the back window, engineers put a high-definition camera above the third brake light. This sends a clear video to the digital rear-view mirror, completely removing blind spots.

The 1,113-Horsepower Output

The plug-in hybrid system works with 3 electric motors to give 1,113 hp (830 kW). Given the vehicle's curb weight of 2,880 kg, it has a lot of power-to-weight ratio at 288 kW per tonne, providing notably sharper acceleration and agility compared to conventional full-sized SUVs currently occupying the market.

  • The oil-based axle lock: The two electric motors at the back drive the left and right wheels separately. There is a special oil-filled lock system in the middle. If one wheel starts spinning in the mud, the thick oil automatically forces the power over to the other wheel that still has grip.
  • Premium Chassis: The car has independent rear suspension and a special body control system developed by Geely. This allows this huge SUV to swerve safely around obstacles at speeds up to 80 km/h (the Moose Test). It also features a "Compass U-turn" mode (spinning on the spot) and a safety system that keeps the car stable if a tyre blows out at high speed.

Nvidia AGX Thor Processor

On the roof, there is a LiDAR sensor that works with Geely's smart driving assist system. This system uses the super-fast "Nvidia AGX Thor" computer chip to handle automatic driving on city streets and highways.

Pricing & Availability

Geely China has not announced the official prices for the Geely Galaxy Cruiser 700 yet. The car will go on sale in China in the second half of 2026. Right-hand-drive versions will be exported to Europe by 2028 and Australia by 2029.

For the Thai market—the parent company Geely is slowly starting to set up its business to sell new electric cars in Thailand. While this luxury off-road car looks very exciting, it will face tough rivals here. If we look only at Chinese brands, its main competitor is the TANK 500 from GWM. If there are any updates about prices, Motorist will bring you the news right away.
